Alpha Kappa Alpha had to get approval from the officers of Howard University as well as Delta Sigma Theta(which was all before the founding of the NPHC). However, since certain people feel that I'm throwing the thread off track, my topic can be dropped. Based on what has been posted, it seems that it doesn't matter if there was an existing organization on campus with similar interests, but it depends on the approval from the officers of the university.

Back to your regulary scheduled program.
I see what you are saying, but that pertained to Alpha Chapter at Howard for incorporation purposes. And I don't remember ever reading that DST had to prove it had a different purpose than AKA before HU would recognize them.

Until then Sigma Gamma Rho was a professional sorority in the city of Indianapolis in Indiana. Also, while our constitution was amended in 1925 to allow women pursuing various degrees (not just education) to seek membership, we did then and continue today, to support programs and initiatives which focus on educating the youth and our communities.
Thank you.

It appears the only THING troubled is YOU. Maybe she can squeeze her soror in for an analysis free of charge. BTW, you may want to pick your eyes up. That's not lady like. Then again................

Soror, I am enjoying your responses. I didn't have time to spell it out like you did. This is what I meant by "foot in what door?"

I know soror that's why I wanted to create this thread. There is a whole lot that greeks and non-greeks don't know about the different orgs.; things that are not a secret but are just less known. And I think that the unity between the NPHC orgs. in particular can only be strengthened by knowing this information.
