Ok here's the response I got:

Hi tld221,
Thanks for responding. I requested more information because the NYU Greek Life site did not list Sigma Gamma Rho as a campus sorority. Since your chapter covers the New York Metropolitan area, you will have to sign up again and select "New York Metropolitan" as the campus. However, since the Alpha Pi website has not been updated since 2001, your name is not on the site's member list.
FraternityLive and SororityLive are currently working with headquarters to develop a plan for accurate member verification. Until we have member lists from HQs, we must verify members using alternate means, and the best way for you to get verified right now is to send us a picture of yourself with letters on. This is generally good proof since nobody would go to the trouble of buying someone else's letters simply to gain access to a website.
Please re-register under the 'New York Metropolitan' campus, and as soon as we receive a picture from you (or post one on your profile when your sign up) we can verify your membership.
Thanks, Justin

So the bolded really prompted me to respond with this:

Justin,
I can register under my graduate chapter if it is a problem. i was using my undergraduate chapter because the site prompted me to give a school. I think you may have the wrong URL - the Alpha Pi website has definitely been updated since then - late 2006. but that will not be of much help to you as we haven't listed chapter members in a while and some chapters just don't do that.
A suggestion to verify members - maybe you have site members verify their own sisters/brothers? Using some GLO-specifc passcode or quiz, something relevant to those members but elusive enough that you and the SL/FL people wouldn't know the meaning behind it? I dunno, i'm just one person, but i really disagree with using a picture of me in letters as verification, especially when (as you've mentioned) your idea of verification equals looking up various greek websites... which anyone can do in both scenarios.
Good luck with getting membership lists from various HQs - you do realize that a. those lists are confidential and the average HQ isnt gonna give it to you? and b. those lists can run into millions of members, which means you are really cutting your work out for yourselves.
Lastly, i understand that you feel that an Internet perp wouldn't buy letters, take a picture and all that just to join a website, but you would be surprised at other similar lengths greek perps would take to prove that they are members of GLOs they are not.
All the best,
tld221

i'm gonna go with my GCers and chalk SororityLive up to being one of those random Greek sites (wasn't there one called Greek Yearbook?) that tries to get everyone Greek linked up but for no real reason. Especially when the creators/ppl who run the site question my legitimacy and have no good way to verify me.
