Sororitylive ?
I ran across sororitylive as an app on facebook, so I did some investigating. It looks interesting, I did a search and saw two threads in specific GLO forums but didn't want to go and pry. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has/ or does use this and what benefits you see from it.

havent been on FB in a few days, almost a week actually! so what is this sororitylive? does it involve webcams? do i need to buy new pajamas? will people with names like bIgTKEmIkE058 be messaging me to ask for pics?
am i on the right track with these assumptions? |
Actually, it's not part of facebook. It's LIKE facebook, but only Greeks can join [when you register, you pick your org and then your chapter]. It's okay, I don't use it so much but when school starts it might be fun. I think they made it so that people can have facebook but not have to disaffiliate during recruitment.

i just ran across it because it was in an application, and started looking into it, from what I can see, it is similar to facebook in terms of networking, etc, but apparently you can also set up budgets/ chapter finance stuff, calendar's for events, and a bunch of other stuff. I emailed the support email about being a local, and they approved me to register, they are just "verifying" my membership now, which i'm not sure how that works, because I don't know if any of my active members are on there. In any event, I'm still curious about what other's experiences were. |
hmm, is there a link to get to it without going on FB?
and how would they stop perps/trolls? are there GLO-specific questions that only members of that GLO would be able to answer? how are they weeding out the TROLLS!?!!!! (sorry to grill you, i guess i should jus czech it out for myself huh?) |
I think it's just sororitylive.com

I joined to see what it was about. It named me a chapter Officer, because I'm the first there from my chapter, but says that my chapter is locked because an Officer has to approve me. So I have to approve myself, but I can't get in to approve myself because it's locked until I approve myself.
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: :confused: |
AlphaFrog, that sounds like my life . . .

At first glance Fraternity/SororityLive seems somewhat redundant. The social features are already implemented well enough in Facebook that it isn't worth using for that aspect. The chapter management stuff looks interesting, but I'm not sure if they are worth the trouble of getting everyone to start using them.

My chapter's being verified to see if it exists. LOL ETA: I was just approved (4:30ish). tld, the issue may be that your chapter not tied to a particular school. *shrug* |
This is what I got back from trying to get Beta Sigma Phi listed. :( Oh well, guess I'll have to just stay on Greekchat then! :D
"Thank you for your e-mail. Currently, our site is set up for collegiate fraternities and sororities only. We would love to have your organization on our site, but we have not yet worked out the logistics for non campus-based sororities and fraternities. We will definitely be keeping Beta Sigma Phi in mind for when we expand to non-academic organizations. I apologize for the inconvenience, but rest assured that we are certainly interested in accomodating your 1200+ chapters and sometime in the future we will be incorporating your sorority into SororityLive. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Justin Stein" |
