More that 200 people trapped in the STL Arch

The one time I went into the arch, I started to have a serious case of claustrophibia in the tram. I was so freaked out about it, that I didn't even enjoy the view at the top, since I knew I had to ride one of those things back down.

I cannot imagine being stuck for hours in one. One more excuse to never go in that thing again.

Haha @ the "arch enemies".

I haven't been up there since a 7th grade field trip. I don't plan on going back up there in the future. I still go to the Arch grounds, gift shops, and museum though.

I'm mildly claustrophobic, and scared of man-made heights (being on top of a mountain doesn't bother me...being on the 25th floor of a building and looking down does)....so I would not have been happy, and neither would anyone else in the tram with me.

that would describe me to a "T". I've never worked on a floor higher than the second floor, and that is fine with me.

I'm terrified of heights, I have a legit phobia in that it does affect my everyday life. I had a discussion section of one class meeting in the 7th floor of the library. I point blank refused to go. I wound up dropping that class but to this day I will not go above the 3rd floor of the library (it has like 20 something floors I think.)

So I'd never go up the arch in the first place. Same for the London Eye, Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building, anything like that. I also have a problem with flying and with mountains. It's pretty bad.

I'm with you. I can go up higher floors, but I can't even look inside an elevator or think about being in one without getting light headed and feeling sick. It's affected looking for jobs, I've passed on plenty of fun vacations, and other things. I'd love to go on a cruise but I couldn't handle having to take an elevator.

I HATE elevators, when I'm in one I'm grasping the railing like it's a white knuckle ride. If it's glass I'm keeping my eyes closed and if part of it is glass I shut my eyes or turn my back.
Unfortunately my job requires that I use them frequently. I think I don't just have acrophobia, I have a huge fear of falling. I just don't know the official phobia term for that. Those trust games? Sorry, I don't trust anyone. I've completely come apart on high ropes courses, climbing walls, anything like that. I just can't manage them.

How are you on bridges over water? I white knuckle it every time I am on a tall/long bridge. Several years ago, I got stuck in traffic on one of the bridges that connects Indiana and Kentucky (over the Ohio River). I was stuck on the middle of the bridge for over an hour. I spent the entire time trying to figure out what I would do it the bridge started to give. I would die if I had to drive on the bridges that lead to Key West.
