We had to fill out our pledge cards by noon, so of course I put it off until 11:30. I had known all along that I really wanted one of the two, but the second was so close, I started to have second thoughts. Meg was wiser - she just burst into tears and sobbed!
After much angst, I finally ranked my card:
Garnets
Rubies
I turned it into the Greek Advisor and left as quickly as possible!
We were to go home, and if we
did NOT get a bid, we would receive a phone call between 6pm and 7pm. How I got through that day, I'll never know!

I don't think I mentioned that I was commuting at the time - remember, I started college at 16, and planning to transfer after my freshman year! I was home, scared to death when anyone even got
near any of the phones.
The phone rang, and my mother answered. It was the Greek Advisor!
