Uhhh, to be honest -- I doubt that it even made it that far to the CEO's desk.
Someone doesn't need to be Greek to know that people like to put the Greek system in a negative light. Someone at ABC/Disney (their parent company) had an idea and judging from the promo pitches it's getting, this show might actually be popular with their target audience...especially since most network shows are on hiatus for the summer.
I agree that the SOLO cup doesn't promote the greatest image for us, but that and the "Virtual Rush" you can sign up for online? That's kinda funny and I think their PR people did a good job.

Wow!!!
If anyone actually checked out the site-you can "Virtually" rush....If you want to join a sorority you can "rush" ZetaBetaZeta...Read what they write about the purpose of the sorority...seriously....if you guys wanna' really get pissed about how they portray greek life-check out the explanations of their chapters for Virtual Rush....In fact, there are people who signed up to rush these fake organizations on this site....Makes me wonder how many of them will be going through rush in the Fall....if you're an active member and not a new "Alum" like myself-GOOD LUCK with Recruitment and watch for people like this....

Shows like this are Darwinism in action.
If someone comes through rush and says "OMG I watched that show on ABC Family and I was so excited to join because I know you guys are exactly like that!" you can cut them quickly and not think about it.

From the preview: "On a campus where everyone's a brother or a sister, they're learning that it's not just Greek Life, it's real life."
HaHaHa
I'm pretty sure this series will focus on partying, hazing, etc etc and completely forget to mention the philanthropies, community service, mentoring, school spirit, and other positive aspects that Greeks contribute to their communities. Oh well, I guess that will mean more work for us in the upcoming semester(s).

I do. I enjoy their Gilmore Girls reruns as well as some of original made for TV movies. I know I probably don't fall into their target demographic, but I'm assuming a lot of women in my age range also tune in every now and then.

People said that Stomp the Yard would be the same way, but it wasn't. I'm reserving comment about this show until I actually watch it.

Well there tends to be more partying than any of the above
Otherwise we would be service groups.

From an interview with one of the characters: http://starrymag.com/content.asp?ID=...erviews&PAGE=1
<< Q. How about your character Rusty?
A. I play Rusty Cartwright and I'm a freshman at the university studying Polymer Science. The character is in development for me which is [took out the words a great parallel to just joining challenge] great because we [took out the word have] get to really discover each other together. [One of] the other leads is Spencer Grammer who plays my sister Casey. She's a junior and one of the co-leader[s] of a big sorority at the university. So, a lot of the problems come from me needing help from her [to adjust to college life} [took out the words and she's there to provide it and]. [Also] just how I adjust to wanting to become a fraternity member [took out the word and] because [Rusty’s] really not the type of person who would go out for those things. There are a lot of embarrassing moments[!] [For example one scene] where I am getting shaved. [There are also] a lot of precious and great moments when I overcome some tribulations which you maybe won't think I will.
Q. Were you able to draw some parallels to the character in your real life?
A. I do draw some parallels to the character in my personal life. [However,] I went to a year of school [took out the words but it was] [at] an art college in Columbia and the only things I saw about [took out the word this] Greek life were on TV. Even then, I just kind of didn't know if that was very true or not. Every time I read a script [for Greek]I am really interested in seeing what happens because I really don't know. I can't make any estimations myself because I haven't gone through anything personally [Greek system and at a college like the one on the show.] >>
My favorite parts are where he talks about his character getting shaved and how he's going ot learn all about this Greek Life through a tv show...
Plus, what's up with all the editing??
