I do this myself at work. There are programs that allow you to see the screen of any computer on the network. The one I use is VNC (http://www.realvnc.com/). I randomly monitor customers and record what they are doing. If I see a customer looking at porn or doing something else like that, I shut them down remotely and talk to them one-on-one.
In my case at home, the computer isn't attached to a network and I don't use a wireless internet connection.
I'm thinking you're right. The monitor might be failing on me because it does have a few years on it - and in computer age it's ancient. LOL!
Are you using the free version or a paid version, also is the free version worth downloading to try out?

We bought ours. I don't know anything about the free version, but it's useless unless other computers are on your network and configured to work with the program.
