Hacker, Glitch or POSSESSION?
Hey all - something weird just happened to my computer. I was working on some things and all the sudden the monitor setting screen popped up. On my computer (a PC) the only way to pull up monitor settings like that is to touch a button on front of the computer, which I did not do.
It gets better. Not only did it pop up, it actually went off to the right (monitor settings initially appear in a circle and then you click on each setting to change it). Then it stopped. All the while, I'm looking on and thinking ummmm. So, I lifted my hand to hit the button and get the setting screen to go away and before I could hit it, it start whirling (on the screen) as if someone were spinning the button. Being an inquisitive person, I let it go until it finally stopped and hit the button. The screen went away. Any ideas? |
Oh my goodness! I am so sorry, but I have no idea. Is there a storm in your area that might have caused a power surge that was so slight you didn't notice?

I am so not helpful, I apologize. When my pc freaks out, I just walk away and pray that it stops! LOL!:)

Were you at home or using someone's server on a public computer?
I have no idea how they did this, but at school the IT people could screw with the desktop on anyone's laptop who was on the school server. They were rumored to move around the cursor or open and close certain applications just to irritate people they didn't like. (I say rumored because it never actually happened to me.) Either way that is a very strange thing that happened to you! When my computer does act up, I'm usually like Trinity and just wait til the storm passes. :) |
It's not a setting that can be messed with over the network, I know what she's talking about. My best guess would be a power surge or a problem with the monitor itself. They do really weird things when they start to die. Changing sizes, wobbling, other settings going awry.

Have you spilled any water or other liquid recently?
I've spilled water onto keyboards a couple of times, and the results were not pretty. This is why I keep all liquids well away from my laptops. |
Beleive it or not, someone can come into and take over your PC!
I have seen it work when I was getting some help from IHQ PC guru! I was having problems, he got in and I sat back with jaw dropped as my PC just started doing things as I leaned back. Amazing to say the least! Suggest you change your password just in case. |

In my case at home, the computer isn't attached to a network and I don't use a wireless internet connection. Quote:

Yeah, don't worry about your password and your files and stuff. |

Yeah, I had an old sony monitor that went on the blink a couple of years ago before it finally died. It didn't bring up the settings but it would change its resolution on its own, that kind of thing. |

And monitors must have very odd programming or something because the stuff they do when they die is weird. On that note though, does anyone know ANYONE who actually wants a trapezoid shaped screen? Or with the sides curved in? Why is that even offered? |
