Let's face it, usually the 2nd movie in a trilogy kinda sucks but you need it to get to the plot in the 3rd movie. Star Wars is an exception; "The Empire Strikes Back" is probably the best, IMO. But LOTR, "The Two Towers" was painful for me...just a bunch of walking.

I had high hopes for DMC, but I really only enjoyed the last 45 minutes in which Jack Sparrow was making hilarious comments/faces and there was action sequences that had a purpose. The sword fight on the wheel was awesome, but the cannibal island was pointless.

Old I know, but this made me think of Clerks II.

Ok, so I just saw it, and it was okay. I liked the (very) end; after the credits...hated it before that. I got bored; they could have cut out like 45 minutes of fighting, and you wouldn't have missed anything important! It was good, but could have been better.

um...i haven't seen it yet, but i knew it. it looks like a big build up to a pointless fight somewhere in asia. they didn't advertise any type of plot...therfore, one does not exist. but i'll be seeing it tomorrow. i mean it's only fair if i threw money to se tobey mcguire dance around with bangs in his face and enough eyeliner to make up the rockettes.

i just hope the resolution to the love triangle is not boring and there isn't too much time wasted on new characters because they weren't in the first two so at this point i don't care.

i would like to take the time to mention that johnny depp went to high school in the city where i live and though i didn't go to that school (too far east so we went to the next city over), we did share an english teacher and one of his former classmates also teaches at my former high school as well.

I agree! During the entire credits I was sitting there thinking "I hate this movie because the ending sucks!!!!" The end of the credits helped to fix this!!! However, I still didn't like the ending, and I reached the conculsion that nothing will ever be as good as the 1st one (One of my all time fav movies!) Though I do have to say, I absoutly loved the marriage scene, classic pirates, though I would have liked it better if Jack had done the wedding, it would have been funnier that way. Oh and did anyone notice which sword it was that killed certain people?

Waaayyyy too long. And I f*&(ing hate that there were 20 minutes of previous and then 10 minutes of other movie theatre commercials and crap. We went to the 9:30, and didn't get out until 12:30. There were portions where I was almost falling asleep because I was so tired. It was fun to watch, but there wasn't enough of a plot to pull me in and hold my attention. I didn't get that "sucked in" feeling

Eh, I LOVE long movies as long as they're done well, just saw this last night and it totally redeemed (Run) DMC.

I love previews too, but commercials in movie theaters can die. Of course, I watched it at our local downtown theater and got to watch a cartoon in front of it too

The first time I saw the movie, it was an 8:00pm showing so I left when the credits started, but the second time my friend (who had also seen the movie previously) and I chatted during the credits and got to see the scene.

The ending was kind of odd, but at least from the Jack POV, there could be another movie. The resolution of Will & Elizabeth was pretty much stated.

Was the sword the one Norrington got from Will in CotBP? The irony of that would be that Will made it and Jones used it to kill people (and then what happened with Jones and Will at the end, trying not to give too much away

)

Did anyone else notice that the two British Navy men, that were in all the movies, that always kind of argue with each other and Jack "slips by them" joined the pirates in the end? I thought that was classic. I was cracking up.

They left it really open while still resolving it. There's no way you can have Jack or anyone of the pirates settle down and open up a shop or something, so there always has to be the next great adventure even if we never get to see it filmed. And Will and Elizabeth have plenty of time for adventure too, but could also be omitted from any future movies.

I love what they did with Jack and his... alternative perceptions of himself (hope that's vague enough for those who haven't seen it)

Yep, it was the same sword. I figured it would play a role when they gave it back to Norrington, and said something like "this is a great sword". Yea but I thought it was intresting that it killed its creator...

The sword definately had total irony in who it killed.

Can someone please still explain to me how someone who is dead can create a living, breathing, child? I just don't get it and it probably has to do with me watching waaaaayyyyy to much Buffy. LOL.

See, he's not really dead. He's perhaps, undead, but definately not dead. While the Flying Dutchman is crewed by the dead, those afraid of passing on, their captain isn't actually dead himself. Davy Jones cut out his heart while quite alive (it's magic!) and one can assume the new owner of the FD wasn't quite dead yet (he got better!) when he picked up the job.

The bonus scene took place 10 years later. A boy, about 9 is singing "yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me" (I think it was that one or it was the song "hoist the colors" (via the beginning of the movie)). Then Elizabeth shows up behind the boy, so you know that that is her son. They are standing on a cliff looking out towards the ocean. Then you see the ocean and the flash of green, so you know Will is back. Then you see Will standing on top of the mast of the flying duchman (much like Jack did earlier in the movie on the Black Pearl) and the movie endsl.

Did anyone else notice that the dog from DMC (that was made the king of the Pelagosi (was that the name?) tribe at the end of the movie) was following Jack's dad in AWE with the key? I was like "hey the dog made it away from the tribe".

I just thought it was funny.
