I started Hapkido and loved it but I didn't have much time and I have this completely irrational fear of falling so I didn't get to work through that. Between the two, I'd drop tkd anyday (I was a blue belt when I left, 3 ranks from black) and pick HKD back up. I miss it. Unfortunately with my right knee in the condition it's in I think I'll never do martial arts again sadly. |
A little while back I got in touch with a guy I grew up with, graduated in my class. He's a 2nd dan in Hapkido. I went over to his house one time and he showed me some standing wrist locks and stuff I was like owwww, go easy, lol. Break falling is fun, I think. I used to do spontaneous forward rolls over at people's apts. That's when you find out if you're doing it right, when you don't have the mats there.
