An ADPi told me that Phi Mu was started because there were a group of girls (one the roomate of a founder) that didn't get into ADPi.

And that all the dancing about (oh yes, the same college, a few months apart) was to prevent embarassment over it. It seems kind of mean to me, but any truth?
