Last night was the ultimate in AI manipulation. Please don't get me wrong. Raising money to do good in the world is GOOD, and even better that some of it is actually staying in our country. Then they somehow got Jeff Beck to perform, which was worth the two hour investment to see who didn't even go home.
But, has it occurred to anyone else that maybe, just maybe, one of the "golden children" was actually #6? TPTB did a darned good job to make the viewers think Jordin and Chris were in danger, and then that Jordin was gone. Their fans will be voting in full force next week to make darned sure they aren't in the bottom two.
I love AI as much as the next person, but it's a graduate course in media manipulation.

I stayed home from my boyfriend's house to watch AI last night in hopes I would see Chris go home. Although it wasn't a complete waste of time, I think I would've enjoyed being at his house more...
Would someone smarter than me please tell me how they did that whole Celine/Elvis thing?

In the beginning of the show, Ryan said the names that he call out would not be in any particular order. I LOVE LaKisha, despite what everyone else has been saying. Her vocals are amazing. Jordin is marketable, that's about it. There is nothing fascinating about her vocals. Melinda, I am so tired of the "I can't believe you're saying all of these wonderful things about me" look she always has on her face. And she is not as nice as everyone thinks she is. Just FYI...

I was so messed up by that. I COULD NOT figure that out. I was hoping Ryan would have given us at least a little explanation.

I would wait until the show ended, but can I just say how awesome Blake did tonight? I thought he was going to screw up his song. I was very pleasantly surprised.

No way. He ruined a great classic.
Chris, Phil and Lakisha really rocked out so far.

I disagree. I think Blake totally owned the song. I also think Melinda is doing a FREAKING AMAZING job.

Okay, so the drummer needs to lay off the cowbell. I've noticed it being really strong in several songs. Particularly in Melinda's.
The only person I've been even mildly entertained by is Blake. The rest was like bad karaoke. Bon Jovi is pretty standard fair for karaoke.
I hate when they narrow it to one band that they can pick songs from it really screws a lot of people. Bon Jovi has a good amount of songs, but they all want to pick songs that the crowd knows. But one band's songs are not one-size-fits-all

I think I just don't like the beat box thing. That's one of my favorite songs and hearing it done "Blake style", I duno. Kinda bothered me. Plus I'm a huge fan of rock and get pissy whenever a rock song is done by non-rockers.

Then you probably shouldn't have watched the rock episode of American Idol. None of these guys or girls are rockers.

True. I didn't know Bon Jovi would be on because I haven't been watching too much tv lately. I was hoping to hear a little "Always" or one of the other slow songs.
How I miss Gina.

I also miss Gina Glocksen.
Phil owned everything about tonight and earned another week. Melinda pulled it off admirably and I still adore her. Thought Lakisha did a fine job and 65 minutes later have only gotten through for her one time. Jordin was clearly out of her league, Chris was there but didn't impress, and Blake was either okay (while actually singing the freaking song) or horrific (while "stylizing" the freaking song).
Results predictions: Another "record breaking" amount of votes. Lots of commericals. Our finalists sing another Bon Jovi song as yet another summer tour preview. Probably "Always" or "IBTFW" because AI hates me like that. More commericals, because what's AI without commerical overload? Bon Jovi sings a song, which I assume has something to do with a new album because AI is pimptastic like that. Commercials bulldoze straight into the results around 9:22 pm EST with the double elimination ceremony.
Should go home? Jordin and Chris.
Will go home? I hope I'm wrong about Lakisha, but after the vote, she and Chris are going home.
