I need to hurry up and get further into the series (I'm on CoS); I don't remember any mirror other than the Mirror of Erised.

No worries, different mirror You'll get there.
I always figure with HP movies people just want to see that they did it right in the trailers. Most everyone knows the plot and the few that don't (as you said) won't get it from the trailer. But I really really want to see Umbridge and how awful she is And if they cut Gred and Feorge's exit out, I'll be pissed.

No, their exit was in the trailer, so it must be in the movie. They couldn't cut that out, there'd be no other way to explain why they're not there anymore. This isn't Family Matters; you can't just take children out and not explain where they went.
What I don't get are people who are all uptight about "Don't tell me what happens in the book, I only watch the movies!!" First of all, the movies come out YEARS after the books; you'd find out from SOMEBODY if not me. If you really wanted to find out for yourself, then read the book you lazy bum!! My best friend totally went off on me for telling her Dumbledore died after I'd read the book. I said, "Do you honestly think that, as freaking huge as this plot twist and as widespread as HP is, NO ONE would ever mention that in your presence for the next 2+ years until a movie was made????" Then she was like, "Oh. Good point."

T-shirt Hell used to have a t-shirt that said 'Snape kills Dumbledore on page 597' or whatever page it was. And it had one for the UK version of the book too. That was awesome!

Wait wait I have a macro!
I'm such a geek.

You'll note someone else added Vader as Luke's father and yet someone else called Harry the Halfblood Prince. I assume people were just screwing around at some point

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
P-L-E-A-S-E
Take this with a grain of salt....don't ask me how I got the link b/c I will not say...
But supposedly this is the first 281 pages of the book....
I haven't read it...but I've heard that it doesn't flow like Rowling's writing and that the security for this book is like the Football the president carries, for example, Libraries have to submit lists of names of who would have access to the book to the publishers....like friends at bookstores will have the book late June/early July in the store...but will not be allowed to touch it, unless they want to risk death.
Also the same person who this link originated from did the same thing with #6 and it was legit...so take it for what you will
On second thought.....PM if you want the link, I don't want to cause an uproar...but also please note that I do not have access to GC during my work hours because of a firewall and I live on the West Coast...patience would be appreciated.
SO PM IF YOU WOULD LIKE THE LINK

^^^I won't do it!! I won't!
Okay, this doesn't really go with the thread because I'm reminiscing, not predicting, but so what. I'm toward the end of PoA and having some trouble making sense of this. Harry, Ron, and Hermione went to see Hagrid at sunset because that's when Buckbeak's trial/execution was set and Remus said the Map showed they'd been in Hagrid's hut 20 minutes before leaving. Now, DD had Harry and Hermione go back 3 hours time. It was 5 minutes to midnight (11:55) when he said it, so they went back to 8:55pm. So, if they made a plan, followed themselves out to the hut, waited 20 minutes to come out, it was about 9:20 when the trial started at sunset. Since when does the sun go down at 9:20pm? Even in June, that doesn't sound plausible! Somebody clearly didn't think I'd sit around thinking about this...

What's sad is that I've gotten there! I've read all 6 books, at least once each. I didn't start reading the series until just before book 5 came out, but I reread them all before book 6. So, if this mirror is in book 6, I've read it only once. If it's in a previous book, I've read it a couple of times. For the life of me, I don't remember a mirror! I'm telling myself it has to be in book 6 - just so I don't feel bad for not remembering it! Anyway...

Uh, in summer in the UK, esp. the Northern part, the sun doesn't go down until around 10, if I remember correctly from the last time I was there.

Or even later. Remember that Hogwarts is in Scotland, somewhere north of Edinburgh. When I've been in Edinburgh in late June, it was still light at 10:30.

I figured it might be a European thing, but since when was Hogwarts in Scotland? I thought it was in Northern England?

No, it's clearly in Scotland, and always has been.
There are a few ways to tell -- the mountains around the school more accurately describe the Scottish Highlands than anywhere in England. But there are other, more specific, clues. The Hogwarts Express travels north from London, and the trip is long enough to end up in Scotland. Also, in Book 2, Snape is showing Harry and Ron Evening Prophet reports of people who saw the flying Ford Anglia. One of the reports is from Peebles, which is in Scotland.
If that's not enough, JKR said so.

OKay, smarty pants, I'll take your word for it. But weren't Harry and Ron spotted when they first took off from King's Cross, still in London? That's when the invisibility function wasn't working and they were afraid people would see them.

They dipped below the clouds multiple times to make sure they knew where the train was, and they mentioned passing other towns. I don't remember where they were spotted, but Hogwarts is definately up in Scotland
