I just can't believe this. These people were INNOCENT. They had no idea. They were just going to class like normal college students. Some of them were probably going to go have lunch with friends later or thinking of what they were going to do tonight. It's just so sad.

Jack Thompson, hater of all things video games, has already been on TV decrying games and gamers and clearly this guy (who hasn't even been officially ID'd yet - they're not even saying the same guy is responsible for both shootings) played games and killed people.

And personal responsibility takes a dive.

Try 3 days. Here is why the media needs to police themselves in terms of what they are doing. If you read further into the article, there have been other threats where VT is mentioned. Why is this the route that people will take for attention? But I guess if we keep giving it to them......

This is from our school paper. I thought it was very well written and wanted to share it with all of you:

Virginia Tech, our thoughts and suppport are with you
Pullman's condulences go out to the victims and their families.

It’s not hard to imagine how Monday started out for Virginia Tech students. It wasn’t much different from any of ours. In a description strikingly similar to the community of Pullman, one VT student described the campus as being located in the “little town of Blacksburg.” The shock that reverberated throughout the country from the horrific scene did not take long to reach WSU, jarring professors and administrators who have spent time at VT. The connections between the schools made the news all the more unbearable. Maybe that is why, as we watched the terrifying news of the campus shootings unfold there, we felt extreme sadness and a strong kinship with the victims, and everyone left behind to deal with the tragedy. Things like this should not happen in towns like Blacksburg and Pullman. But this did not stop a sense of insecurity and uneasiness from creeping into our minds as the details of the attacks emerged. Even worse, the students, faculty and staff of VT will have to live with the terror for the rest of their lives. The Evergreen Editorial Board has written several times about the value of the time we feel the college experience embodies. Now, for the entire Virginia Tech student body, much of that precious time and fond memories are lost, marred by the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Looking ahead, Hokies, take solace in healing power of the wonderful bond being a part of a proud university can create. Amid the unfair realities and grief, remember the countless times you came together to chant the fight song in celebration of another victory. Don’t forget the brilliant feeling that comes with wearing orange and red, the Hokiebird across your chest. Know that today, every Cougar wishes he or she could in some way erase the geographical distance that separates the schools and shoulder some of your sorrow. I keep seeing a video clip on TV showing a cop cowering behind a tree, holding what looks like a .38 special. Who is this guy? A million times we've heard it said that the police "put their lives on the line every day". Perhaps this just means writing parking tickets, because when someone has a gun and is shooting college kids like fish in a barrel, they hide behind a godamned tree.

Supposedly lessons were learned from Columbine that you don't crouch behind police cars calling, "Come out, come out, wherever you are, you go in and GET HIM. FAST!

The police never did kill the gunman; he killed himself. If he hadn't, how many more people would have died? From what I've heard, the police did nothing to stop the rampage.This coward, whoever he is, should be identified and fired - if not brought up on charges.

My school is doing an Orange & Maroon day tomorrow. Mind you, JWU doesn't offer Friday classes besides for a select few and very few people take them. I wish they did this on a Monday-Thursday....

Police have to watch out for their safety too. And I thought he shot himself right before police would have reached him? We don't know exactly what the police plan was, so we can't exactly criticize this guy.

Not knowing when the cop was filmed, nor the specifics of the police response - it is possible that this cop was doing what he was instructed to do. And "cowering" - staying under cover is a good thing. How many cops were on the scene? Who was doing what? You don't know - we can't know - and trust me - my brother is a cop, and a SWAT team officer. Every time he stops a car, he is in danger. Every time he breaks into a crack house, he takes his life in his hands. I guarantee you those cops wanted nothing than to take the killer out - and there were tons of them on the scene. Don't judge by the one picture you saw.

"Cowering"? How about taking cover perhaps? Please explain to me how they were going to "stop the rampage"? You are being completely unrealistic.........and from what I understand, the Korean blew his head off just as the first units arrived on the scene. I've heard it stated clearly on reports that the cops actions were nothing like Columbine, and that they immediatiely entered the building when they arrived.

.....but i'm glad you feel secure basing your thoughts off of a picture of one........count it.....one cop.

Responses like yours are the reason why I don't like to watch coverage of the events or really even listen to what people have to say other than the students and the victims. In the end, all it ends up being is a huge bitch fest about what wasn't done right, who was at fault, who was "acting like a coward", and other similar bullshit. Its pretty damn easy to point a bunch of fingers after you have seen it all completely played out. It makes me sick that you can call that police officer a coward while you are sitting behind a fucking computer.

Honeykiss1974 I was referring to the violent disgusting plays he had written while at VT. One such play is entitled "Richard McBeef". No doubt someone will call them "art" and produce them. There are people who beleive John Wayne Gacys disturbing and ugly clown paintings are art . So I'm sure there are people somewhere who will claim this Cho's writing is worth producing.

It does seem the copycats are crawling out from their dark places to further hasten Americas decent
