It is such a tragedy what has happened So many unanswered questions too.. I have 2 friends that go there; and both are safe! Today was one of their birthdays too (what a day to remember huh)
Any word on Chi O's being accounted?
Prayers go out to the students and families!!

Nothing on your national website yet. I hope they're ok.

My friend called me when he first heard about it, about 12:30 "Did you hear about the shooting??" The way he said it I thought it was in RI at first.
I'm in total shock. I got off the phone with him and mentioned it (I was at work, no TV, no computer besides for the bosses) and my main boss looked it u\p right away.
Thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families of the victims, and those who still don't know if their family/friends/sisters & brothers, etc are safe.

Same thing with this incident. If everyone who had ever been dumped went on a killing spree, there'd be one every day.
If you've been dumped and can't handle it, talk to someone. Have yourself committed. Do something. But there is no excuse for murdering innocent people.

Nothing you said sounded harsh IMO. Your 100% right. I know people, including myself, who have been picked on their entire life...I don't see any of us going around shooting people. There is no excuse at all for this.

And personal responsibility takes a dive.

Not saying that it makes him any less responsible, but if someone already has a twisted mind, the video games don't help at all. Have you ever seen some of them like Counter Strike?

Believe me, I've played a lot of violent video games. I don't have the urge to go shoot anyone.
Clearly someone who does this has serious mental issues. But if video games are going to cause you to shoot someone, you've jumped off the sanity train long ago...

I didn't say that the video games are what caused this. I said, and I quote, "f someone already has a twisted mind, the video games don't help at all". Meaning if they are off balanced to start with...the video games don't help.
On another note...I wonder what Jodi Picoult would have to say about this. Her latest book is about a school shooting and when she did the signing of her book at the local Border's she talked about school shootings a little.

[mini-hijack]
19 Minutes. It's on the New York Times Bestseller list. Number 1 I think. I read it. Good book. She really goes into detail and you honestly start to question everything. Your own thoughts and morals. You question why people are allowed to treat others this way. It's a good read but you really have to be in the right mindset to read it.
With that being said, right now would probably not be the best time. In her story, the shooter survives and she goes into detail of the torment the person put up with. As a person it horrified me and as a teacher I was beyond appalled. And it was a book!
But I highly recommend it. Awesome book.[/end mini-hijack]

Yes but you can say that about any sort of media really. And there really isn't any sign of causation between video games and violence even with people who already have mental issues.

Goodness gracious.
I think each and everyone of us has anger about injustice. But most of us do not go around shooting random people who had absolutely nothing to do with the bad things that have happened to us.
Alpha Phi Omega brothers have been accounted for.

That's good. I was wondering if they had a chapter there.

My thoughts and prayers for eveyone at Virginia Tech -- their families and friends. May the peace of a loving God surround them and comfort them at this time.
