ah, but has anyone actually had their dad mistake them for their wife even though his wife (my mother) was sitting exactly next to him?
My and I are both around five foot one, are pear shaped, and have long blond hair. That's something I can look forward to-nearly halfway through my fifties without any gray sticking out yet. Oh, and all of those early wrinkle lines.
I find myself talking to my line sisters like my mother talks to me (make sure you go to grad school NOW because it is much harder if you take a break and go back). I realize how it sounds and I apologize for being so patronizing. It snuck up on me!

I realized I am becoming my parents when my roommate told him to wake him up at a certain time and I didnt becuase he was sleeping so good. We joke all the time about how when we tell our parents to wake us up they dont and then we get pissed because there was a reason we told them to

I'm shaped just like my mom - short and wide.
I walk like my mom - piegeon-toed.
I'm loud like my mom.
I'm very silly like my mom.
I sing and dance around the house like my mom.
So, yeah, I've turned into her pretty much.

I was delighted that my mom and I went to the same church for about 9 months before people actually realized that we were related. Their reaction was usually something like: "You're her daughter?? But you're nothing alike. You're so laid back and she's so....well... ".

This just made me laugh so hard at the visual image in my head.
As for me, I realized I was turning into my mom when I freaked out when Mike & I were cooking. He was doing things all wrong (at least in my book) and I started lecturing him about cooking. Midway, I stopped and looked at him and realized he was trying not to laugh. He said I was doing exactly what my mom does to everyone who tries to help her in the kitchen. I could have cried when I realized that she has indeed rubbed off on me.

LOL same here!
me and my mother look a LOT alike and it would bug me for ages. it still does. i wear contacts vs. glasses and an afro vs a short haircut (like mom does). so we have SOME variance, but chances are you'd still know we were related.
among other things, i realized that when i button my pants, i look at the ceiling. and it bothered the hell out of me when i realized i did it. also, my mom eats her sandwiches in a circular pattern (leaving the middle for last) and i do it too.
our phone manners are the same - its weird.

My father has never mistaken me for my mother - I have her eyes but his hair, so she and I look "different enough". But my mother-in-law mixes up her husband with mine (their only child) all the time. She frequently says, "Jim, Tom, whatever your name is!" (names changed to protect the innocent)

i've had people who knew my mom when she was younger swear i look like her.
i know that i behave a lot like my mom, we think the same way about a lot of things. but what scares me most is how academically, i've turned into both of my parents but WITHOUT them pressuring me in any way, shape or form. it's the most bizzare thing ever and i have no real explanation for it. suffice to say though, that both of my majors are exactly what my parents did (social studies for one parent, french for the other) :P
but i'm ok with it, my mom is an awesomely cool person most of the time. my kids will be lucky if i end up half as relaxed as my parents (really, so chilled out they barely even gave me cause to rebel. pierced my bellybutton? not thrilled but came around. came home drunk in hs? no reaction. hungover off my @$$ on new years day? handed me a zantac).
