lol Henry Hawk...good times! I don't know WHAT they're showing on Saturdays now. For me, I used to watch cartoons all morning and then Soul Train at noon. You had the X-Men, Spiderman, Bugs & The Crew (LOL), and some other ones I can't remember but they were GOOD. You can still catch these cartoons but you REALLY have to be on the lookout for them. I'm nowhere near thirty but I realllllly can relate to both forwards posted in this thread.
Plus, when you played outside, someone grown was actually outside WITH you. Nowadays, you have a bunch of children running around unsupervised. And we used to have imaginative games like making "dinner" from mud, grass, and pine cones! And you soooo could not come in and out the house without hearing "You better stay in or out! You lettin' out my air!" I still remember all the jump rope songs and hopscotch. DO KIDS EVEN KNOW WHAT HOPSCOTCH IS TODAY?! ANNNND we had better candy. Can you said lemonheads and Boston Baked Beans? I can't even FIND Boston Baked Beans today! *sigh*

Or Alexander the Grape! I remember finishing the candy and turning the box into a musical instrument, like I was getting the choir in tune. LOL

Yes, they are called Grapeheads. I loved me some Alexander the Grape. I forgot what the cherry ones were called but it had a stereotypical picture of a Chinaman on the box. Those are now called...you guessed it, Cherryheads!

They were called Charlie Chans.....I used to love those. Nothing like palying jacks on a Saturday afternoon and eating penny candy and penny cookies. Remeber the butter cookies shaped like a flower with the hole in the middle? I used to wear them on my pinkies!

How Times Have Changed
I remember getting paddlings in grade school. Now we have to worry about getting shot in school. Very sad, but very true.

^^^ Getting shot meant getting into a water gun fight when it started getting warm. It's a shame that these kids really have to worry about guns in their elementary classrooms.

They were the coolest little accessory when you were having a snack! LOL I still remember Murray Bros. cookies because we ate them so much. Butter were my fave, but chocolate chip were cool, too.
I wonder how many kids play "Red Light, Green Light" or "Mother, May I?" We could play those games for hours....until the mother would decide to keep us moving by baby steps forward only. Talk about messing up a game...

Nabisco butter cookies....sigh.. they were the best cookies eva!!! Along with Brown Edge Wafer Cookies. How can they let me grow up on those and stop making them!!!! They were the best with Black Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream (Bryers if you will). Now if they take away my Barnum Animal Cookies (in the circus box) we will have a major problem!!!
