Before that emporuim left, they had a HUGE going out of business sale. That area's not too far from Matthews 10 (the $1.50 movies ya'll!!!).
Did you get a chance to go to the place further down the road (much further) "Love Jones"? It closed, but I hear it had a nice, kinda "jazzy" atmosphere.
You're right, Independence at 5 pm is no joke!
