In addition to dues, there are other costs associated with being in a sorority. Sororities have formals, mixers, and date parties which some sororities require you to pay for out of pocket. If you want tee shirts or other mementos from those events, those cost money too. There are also meal plans that some sororities require members to purchase. Living in the house is also a financial commitment. There are also fees for those who do not live in the house called parlor fees.

My particular chapter had a system of payment plans so that everything wasn't due all at once.

I'm not telling you this to discourage you. It's just important for you to have an idea of whether you can truly afford this before you rush
