I'm challenging on Faulkner as an SAE. It seems unlikely, really, if you know his biography. "Count no 'count" was an SAE?

(By some accounts, he dropped out of high school, went off to join the Royal Air Force because he was too short to join the US military for WWI, when he was enrolled at Ole Miss, he was a special student, and I think, kind of thought of as unusual. It just doesn't seem like he would have been invited to join SAE, but maybe I'm wrong.)

Are you saying that the Modernist writer was in a fraternity as a young man or are you saying the fraternity gave him honorary membership, or maybe, that the fraternity had a member named William Faulkner, but he wasn't the writer. What are the circumstances of his membership?

The list is impressive enough without him. If you've got Walker Percy and Shelby Foote, you're well represented in terms of 20th century southern men of letters, even without Faulkner. I certainly don't mean to slight the rest of the list or SAE.
