I took the Special Education Core Principles test Saturday, and there was a lot more on medical "stuff" then I expected. I think I did ok..but like AUDeltaGam, I'm going to have to wait 4 weeks.

Quick Question
Do you HAVE to be a Education Major to take it? I'm a Certified Sub in the District of Columbia and I want to get into teaching.

I passed my Praxis II to get my additional license..Woo Hoo!!!
To Shortfuse: Check with the requirements in DC in order to get a teaching license. Most states require you to take some sort of test whether it is Praxis or their own state test in order to obtain a license. So no you don't have to be an education major..the Praxis people (ETS) will gladly take your money either way. I would check first though to get the requirements to make sure you don't waste money and time. Good luck!

Woohoo! My daughter passed the PRAXIS in Spanish --she got her results today. Yay for her! That's a really hard test, there's not only a written part but also a part where you have to listen to taped questions and answer into a different recorder.

This is my third year teaching and Praxis I was a breeze and Praxis II (essay was ok) when I took them before I began teaching. Praxis II for my content area is a whole new story. Now I am trying to decide If I am going to pay the $450 to take the School Leaders Licensure Assessment test so I can be an assistant principal. That would be a LOT of money to pay and then NOT pass .

Yeah, those Praxis tests can be boogers. I took mine on a whim, because I really wasn't sure if I even wanted to teach. I was a Vocal Performance major and decided I'd just see what would happen if I took the Praxis I test. I passed it with flying colors (except for the Math portion, which I passed by four points). So, for the Praxis II Music test, I discovered that the state education department in Mississippi only required passing of Content and Knowledge exam in order to be certified. So, I took that exam and wouldn't you know I passed that exam BY ONLY ONE POINT!!! But it was all I needed, because now, I'll be the new Choral Director at a local middle school here in the city. Good luck to everybody who has to take them.

Check your state DOE, they may have extended it where you can still take the 410 test -Admin/Supervision. In LA, PRAXIS 410 can be used until 12/31/08. Therefore, the new all essay test (6 hrs long) is not required until 2009.
Hint for the 410: SCHOOL LAW!!!!
