Why not? I am ashamed of him and I have every right to say that anywhere I want - even in a foreign country. I'm so sure no one ever said a bad word about Clinton outside the U.S. while he was in office!

Any award show that has Justin and Dixie Chicks nominated for best album should be preceded with the letters M-T-V. The fact that this is like the elite awards show is ridiculous. Justin %&$#@! Timberlake? Yeah, what amazing musical talent the kid has.
As for the dixie chicks, they can say whatever they want. What would be nice is if the media would treat them and green day and susan sarandon as what they really are...modern day court jesters who don't know what they're talking about. God I hate Hollywood. I'm gonna stop thinking about it before I have an aneurysm.

Taking The Long Way has achieved a platinum certification
Four weeks after its release on May 23, Taking The Long Way has achieved a platinum certification by the RIAA for sales topping 1 million units.
The U.S. success has been echoed in similar chart-topping sales figures around the world. Taking The Long Way debuted at #1 (and remained in the top slot for four weeks) in Canada, where it is already 2x platinum, and at #2 in Australia, where it's certified platinum. The album debuted at #8 in New Zealand, where it's been certified gold. Released in Europe on June 12, Taking The Long Way has already crossed the two million mark in sales worldwide with the album hitting the Top 10 in Sweden (peaked at #1), Australia (#2), Germany (#5), Europe (#6) Switzerland (#6), Ireland (#7, gold), Norway (#7), Austria (#8), and the UK Top 75 (#10, gold). The album is a new entry on the charts in Finland (#17), Denmark (#37), Holland (#42), and Belgium (#61). In every market in which it's charted, with the exception of New Zealand and Ireland, Taking The Long Way has the highest-charting debut numbers of any album in the Dixie Chicks' career.
Notice that 4 weeks after its release, it had sold a million copies in the US. It was their highest charting album.
They never said anything against the government. In fact, they said they supported the troops. (edited due to mistake in facts on my part.)

I never said it didn't do well. I said it didn't set the world on fire in the US.....which is true. Their three albums they released before their little incident went 28x platinum collectively (12x, 10x, and 6x). After their comments during the 2003 tour, their live album only went gold and this one is 2x platinum......clearly a drop off.
Thanks for wasting your time though trying to prove me wrong. I know you like to do that.

Honestly get over it.
You have your opinion, others have there's and the fact that we can all state them is the whole ideal our county is supposedly based on.
Also, I never get the whole thing of people trashing anything mainstream, yes some of it is crap, but sometimes some of it is good. As long as you like it, go for it. I just might not.
Personally, I really like the Dixie Chicks and always have. I think they are really good and there music has evolved and grown, but hey thats my opinion.

Just to clear up a misunderstanding: I wasn't trying to prove you wrong, I was trying to put out information. If I misunderstood your post, I apologize. Sorry, champ.

A lot of artists don't sell albums like they used to. In the 90s, albums were constantly going platinum and multi platinum. The farther we get into the 21st century, the harder it is for artists to sell their records because fans are looking to the internet to buy music.
Yeah, I admit that Dixie Chicks' new album did suffer a little bit in long term sales, but it was their fastest selling album. If you look at Billboard every week, you will notice that there are not many albums pass the 4x platinum mark. In fact, there are very few. So I hardly consider this album to be a disappointment. It is hard to sell an album these days.
