I drive to the train station, then take Metro-North into the city. Metro-North isn't too bad, except when there aren't enough cars on the train and people have to stand.
I prefer commuting by train. You can get stuff done on the train. If you're driving, you have to concentrate on driving, but if you're just sitting on a train, you can read, sleep, listen to your iPod, knit, do needlepoint, do sudoku or crosswords, whatever. And if something goes wrong on the train, it's somebody else's problem - and you get
more time to read, sleep, listen to your iPod, etc.
