The "PC" term for suiciding is ISP or Intentional Single Preference.
If you suicide, it's less likely that you'll receive a bid. On the other hand, it can be a good idea if you pref one sorority you love and one sorority you can't stand; if you list both sororities, there's a chance you could match to the sorority you can't stand, and then you're bound to it for one year (you don't have to pledge, but you can't pledge any other NPC sorority).
