They don't do that in the Detroit area... well maybe in Southwest or something.

I remember seeing it on the news that they were doing that in NYC. But I believe it's because they had a power outage there. No air conditioning when it's 90+ degrees out would really suck. I think I'd consider hacking apart a fire hydrant too even though I'm a native of the South and use to extremely high temperatures!

White out conditions, 1 degree with a windchill of -10 and idiots think it's smart to go 70 on the freeway. HELLO PEOPLE!!! SALT DOESN'T WORK WHEN IT'S THIS COLD!!!!!!!!! THAT MEANS ICE ON THE FREEWAYS! WAKE UP!
They scared the crap out of me. And then the kids started bickering.. grrrrr
