Iced-in Georgians

Let's hear it from all the Georgians who are iced into their houses today!

I got my "school is closed" phone call at 5:30 this morning and will beat up the chorus teacher who decided to call that early...of course, my husband got his call an hour later when I'd finally fallen asleep again.

Now our winter-deprived kids are making snow angels in the ice on the deck.

I wish I got iced-in. The streets are ice-free in the heart of Atlanta so I was forced to go into work today. :(

The streets do not have ice but my car had ice all over it this morning as well as my porch balcony.

Well, at least the Publix by my house won't be out of milk, water and canned food. Atlantans freak out over nothing better than anyone else.

The news showed shots of nothing left on the bread, milk, and water shevles of the Harry Teets here in Charlotte. It's actually kind of pretty out right now.

We got nothing but rain and more coldness down here on the southside :( And I rearranged my work schedule in preparation for some "wintry mix" ...

Does Greenville count?

Was snowing this morning. Now it's raining. Didn't have to go to work today.

UGA closed.

Yeah, my daughter who goes there called to say that classes were cancelled but that her boss still made her come in to work. Three of mine go to college in north Alabama but all had classes.

Georgia State was open today too  but like DSTRen13 said, just rain and coldness here in Atlanta today.

However, it didn't hurt for us to dream about not coming in to work yesterday...:p

Southeast Tennessee had about 2" early this morning -- it's beautiful! All of the local schools were closed today.

Xylochick216 02-01-2007 07:15 PM

We were supposed to get 4 inches today. All the schools closed. It's now green outside. We had flurries for about an hour, but that's all. We could get more tonight, but I'm not holding my breath :( looks like we'll never get snow in VA this year!

NUBlue&Blue 02-01-2007 08:10 PM

Cold rain and school today....but the pool has a layer of ice. My housepainters took a break today, but they've been busy all week prepping and waiting for it to warm up.

My kids said lots of people decided to take a snow day anyway.:p

And we northerners are laughing at this right now.

AGDLynn 02-01-2007 11:28 PM

And that's why I don't trust weather people.

I really needed to take today off

Its alright, because when it hits 95 in Chicago or Detroit and yall start hacking apart fire hydrants, we get a good chuckle as well.
