I'm confused whether or not this is formal or informal recruitment but since you mentioned sorority open houses, I'm assuming that this is informal. Yes, during informal recruitment women are generally "cut." This is NOT always the case -- if a sorority is, say, 15 women below total and only 10 women accept invitations to the preference night the sorority MAY choose to extend bids to all 10 women if they feel as though they would all be good fits for the sorority. However, if 20 women show up to this hypothetical pref party, then 5 women will not be extended bids.

Don't worry though... in my personal experience as a PNM and a sorority member, it seems as though not TOO many women get cut from informal pref parties... it wouldn't make sense for a sorority to invite 50 women to a pref party when only 15 spots are available.

Rest assured that whatever happens, you were invited back because they genuinely like you and see something special in you. I hope you receive happy news tomorrow!

At most schools, sorority members have a list of which women are coming in which round so they are familiar with their names before they meet them.

Yup. Like KSUViolet said, sororities will have a list of the girls who accept invites. Especially for a pref party, sororities will want to try to get to know everyone on a first name basis because 1. it's polite and courteous, and 2. because they really want to get to know the PNMs better and make them feel at home.

I'm hoping for a happy ending to your story today. Please let us know!

I just read your story for the first time. I'm so happy that you found an organization that you love this time around. A big congratulations from me!!!!

I just had my new member ceremony yesterday, so I totally understand the "high" you're on.
