Guess that's true. Reuters maybe got just a bit carried away in its copy.

"Jan 16, 2007 — WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois jumped into the 2008 White House race on Tuesday, promising to "change our politics" with a campaign that could make him the first black president in U.S. history.

On the other hand, my guess is that the exploratory committee will end up with his becoming a bonified candidate.

I still think it might be better for him to wait a term or two.
