You're ignoring my point.

Just because Scouting qualifies as a fraternity in the eyes of the poster doesn't mean it would be an ideal sampling of fraternity life.

SydneyK's response is accurate however I view race dynamics as more complex than that so I won't open that can of worms.

I got YOUR point.

These groups are examples of fraternal organizations in the broad sense of the term. But when someone says "fraternity" the ideal example isn't Boy Scouts or Kappa League.

So basically what u are saying is that in order for a fraternity to be a fraternity...u must be 18 years or older and in college, go through an initiation period, and it must consist of 3 greek letters? If so, does that means that Masons and OES are not Fratern(soror)ities? As I stated...KL/SB/SOS are clubs...however they are fraternities for the reason that they are for a group of people who share a common purpose and interest. They are sponsored by KAPsi, APhiA, and PhiBSigma but while the students get into these clubs...the advisors do mention that we are not on the level as the fraternity that sponsors us. For example, Since I am in KLm They tell us not to wear the Crimson and Cream, wear any KAPsi paraphernalia, say that you rep KAPsi, do the KAPsi hand sign, and any other things that deal with their fraternity.

There's people in these groups that really want to take part in the KAPsi, APhiA, or PhiBSigma when dey go to college, however many people join the group for support/mentoring, and it also looks good on college applications.

There are a couple of fraternities like Sigma Rhomeo that do not have 3 Greek letters. Other than that, YES.

Yes. Many Masons and OES consider themselves the beginning of fraternal organizations but do not want to be relegated to the "fraternity" and "sorority" title.
