I don't think there is anything wrong with a pink tie....so long as it is not solid pink.

No offense, macallan, but that statement is at least half of what is wrong with America today.

I'm not talking about a flaming solid pink tie.....I figured you could see that. A darker shade of pink, coupled with other matching colors is perfectly fine.......and more than appropriate for late spring/summer when lighter colors are what should be worn.

I've seen guys wearing something like what you said, like a mixture of purple and pink, but darker shade...forgot what it's called though, but it looks really nice and it's not metro at all, just like guys wearing light pink shirts

If it were me, I'd try to think of a store that matches his style and go in and see what they had in the way of tie tacks.
Do you know where he usually shops?

I gotta ask. What's a multi-cultural friends and family circle?

Our extended "family" of family, friends and neighbors who come from different faiths. We've taken to selecting names out of a hat and giving one "secret santa" gift to that person (in lieu of a bunch of spending $30 per person on various people for gifts, you spend $100 on that one person) and celebrating our own Chrismukah It ends up being cheaper.

Oh ok. That makes sense. The way you said it, I thought it was like a club or an organization that you belong to.

You, too!
Seriously, does anyone have any recommendations? Something simple, silver or stainless steel....

Have you tried Macy's or Dillards?
ETA: They have a bunch here, about halfway down the page. http://www.thetiebar.com/categoryPag....asp?view=all&
EATA: They also have a bunch of really nice sterling silver ones on amazon.com. Just search 'tie bar' in the jewelry section.

Of those only Tiffany and Co. seemed to have one, and theirs is $100. I guess you knew that.
I googled tie bars though and I got some results for sterling silver. Knowing the guy, you could probably see if any worked.
