I need a tie tack
We do secret santas in my multi-cultural friends and family circle. This year, I have been assigned Mr. Metro. He wants a swanky tie tack/tie bar to hold his ties in place when he is wearing them, and my spending limit is $30-$50 (I'll be spending about $100 total on his gift, as we all havea $100 SS budget, but wanted to get a few other things for him, too). Any ideas? I am looking for something simple, silver and classy. Expensive looking works, but the Tiffany's catalogue is a bit out of my range.
Thanks! |
Is he aware that tie tacks can ruin a good tie? (besides the fact that tie tacks are ridiculous.)
|
I think so--- he wants a tie bar-- one that clips, not one that pins through the tie.

A tie bar is about as cool as a clip on tie.

If he's a metro as you say, I'm sure he owns a plethora of pink ties. Destroy those and buy him a nice navy or red tie. Polo has good deals around Christmas to keep the cost down around $50.

My hubby wears a tie chain, which looks pretty cool. I don't remember where we bought it, but it's another option. It has a bar that hooks to the button in the shirt and then the chain goes over the top of the tie.
Tie pins are evil. |
I don't think there is anything wrong with a pink tie....so long as it is not solid pink.

If it were me, I'd try to think of a store that matches his style and go in and see what they had in the way of tie tacks.
Do you know where he usually shops? |
I gotta ask. What's a multi-cultural friends and family circle?
|
Brooks Bros, Jos A. Bank, Tiffany & Co... you know...
|
Of those only Tiffany and Co. seemed to have one, and theirs is $100. I guess you knew that.
I googled tie bars though and I got some results for sterling silver. Knowing the guy, you could probably see if any worked. |
