I know that this is not specific to Charlotte - but its an idea. Seems to be kind of close to what you are doing now, but if want a career change you may not like.

Try looking at the area governments and see if they have a work program for the challegened in your area. Two of my cousins actually do this. One is a director in one county and the other one (who is younger) goes with them to jobsites.

They take various clients to work at jobsites and monitor and help them with what they need. It gives them skills, something to do, and is helpful to the community.

Maybe some jurisdictions in Charlotte have programs like this. Just a thought.

Look at Crisis Assistance Ministry, too... I don't know if they're hiring right now, but they have a lot of social services people, and usually have an opening somewhere.

definitely look into state government, i have 2 friends who do not have masters but have been working in professional positions with the court system & juveniles.

be aware that there might be months between applying, interviewing, and eventually being offered a position.
