Depending on the organization it may or may not be up to the local AA.
Which is, again, a problem with these blind postings. What is the point of these "pursuit" threads? Encouragement? What if the organization the woman is pursuing does not do AI or the woman doesn't meet their criteria- does she really need pages of un-related women posting, "Oh, I hope (Code Name) calls you back"? What purpose does it serve?

I think that the problem is in looking for a "point" Sometimes the only point is encouragement.

Yes, but I think encouraging someone in a futile quest- what if they have spent their whole "pursuit" thread trying to become an AI of an organization that doesn't do it?- is crueler than asking relevant questions.

Why would you think encouragement for someone that is currently in contact with a sorority regarding AI would be a bad thing?

I don't, and I think they could seek it in that organization's subforum or elsewhere.
Most of the threads I have seen have involved women who are just beginning to research and/or contact organizations. Not women who have received a positive real life response from those organizations.

Well, I didn't post regarding who to contact, because I read through the posts of others and got my information that way. I didn't contact the HQ's directly, I contacted a Region-level person in the area where I lived and just figured if I contacted the wrong person they would re-direct me, and they didn't, they got me in touch with the right people

This is an important post. You took cues and made the necessary contacts w/o needing anyone to hold your hand.
Therefore, why can't there just be a closed sticky in the recruitment forum that states "Some sororities and fraternities have alumnae/graduate initiation opportunities. This is not the same as recruitment as this is typically by invitation-only. For more information please check out the national websites for your organization of interest. There is no general process or general information to provide and we prefer that inquiries not be posted on GC. However, if you wish to provide some info about your own AI experience that you are currently undergoing, not asking how to begin, feel free to do so and your thread will 1) be directed to the appropriate forum and 2) be responded to with the understanding that no one on GC can speak for every organization or every aspirant's experience."

Hey, I'm not saying ONLY encouragment is in order. If the PNAI posts the GLO and it's XYZ (which doesn't do AI) someone is going to tell them that. And if she doesn't listen, only to get shot down by I/NHQ, then so be it. But I trust my sisters enough to generally encourage someone. If she doesn't fit, she doesn't.
Asking questions, challenging, snarkiness, etc. all have their place, it's only when the fight about AI itself gets dragged down on a new poster's head that I have a big problem with it.

I totally agree with you regarding if someone inquires about AI in a sorority and that particular sorority just doesn't do it. If someone kept asking questions, I would probablly do the same thing, if some don't, then they just don't.
