I just got into knitting too. My mum taught me years ago, but I didn't like it when I was a teenager, plus I had a difficult time with it and tended to give up easily on things back then.
Anyways, I just picked it up again last weekend: my alumnae chapter was knitting scarves and mitts for a local charity for one of our service projects. I had such a fun time with it, my mum gave me some needles and yarn over the long weekend, and I've been practicing away (casting on and knitting).
I find it's great while watching tv; I need to be doing something, and usually I just snack if I get bored. Plus, it's a great way to keep my stress levels down while watching hockey - I wonder if I will look like a total weirdo if I bring my knitting to GM Place

.
Once I get half decent I want to knit some mice for my kittens - I believe the pattern was in the Stich N' Bitch book.
