Pledged came out - how many years ago? - and I JUST read it this summer. I was able to get a used copy; I wouldn't want the author to earn any money from me.
It was one of the worst books I ever read. Not just because of the sorority stuff in it, but those most of those stories were SO SILLY and sound so fabricated.
So...no, I would not be interested in a book about AI.

I seriously hope you consider a revision or three before you submit to a publisher. I can see AI as a possible subplot, but not your main plot. And to call your plot "chicklit silliness" demeans the genre. Sure, it can be a light, frothy comedy or heavy drama, but I used to think the same thing about romance novels before I started writing them...and realized how much WORK it is to write one.
That said, I wish you well with your submission.

It's not really the main plot nor is it a subplot. When the editors went through it for the first time, they thought that it was a fictional account at women's history in education/society. It's not like the narrator spends every minute of every chapter going "oh my gosh, I'm meeting with the alumnae president to do fill-in-the-blank!" She has stuff to deal, like parents (she lives at home), friends, men, classmates/homework (she's a grad student). How *MUCH* of it is focused on sororities, well, it's up to you to decide.

Hm, could be very interesting. Not kidding either.
AI is a same post in Greek Lfe even though some make a big point out of it!
If I buy it, can you sign it for Me? Think I am kidding? Not at all! I will do what I can to help Your career no matter what.
So, is yours so different than another book being touted on GC?
If it is written and some are looking on it to publish, just do it! Period.
This is your decission and none of the people on GC to try to change your mind!
If you need, PM me when it comes out and ship Me a copy and I will pay for it! Just sign it!

I'm trying to understand how this would work. Is it like a Mad-Libs-style book, where the reader fills in some blanks or something? Or does it have lots of AI metaphors in it, and how many the reader can pick up on is what determines how *MUCH* of it is focused on sororities? Are there hidden messages? Lots of obscure sorority references?
I just don't get it. I've never read a book where the amount of focus on something (something actually IN the story) is up to the reader. And I minored in English... I've read lots of stuff!
So, logistically, I'm stumped. I might read it just to figure out how it (this "how *MUCH* of it is focused on sororities, well, it's up to you to decide" aspect of it, not the AI aspect) even works.

Are you basing the AI experience in the book on your own experience? If so, what does your sorority think about it?
