I used to work at West Point and the Thayer Award is a REALLY big deal. I went to the parade the year Walter Cronkite got the award...and also the following year when it was General Colin Powell.

Not surprised to see someone like Tom Brokaw get this award--given all his work documenting the stories of The Greatest Generation.
