Etim named Frater of the Year
By Ryan Schomber
Eddie Etim sure knows how to win an award.
The National Pan-Hellenic Conference selected Etim as Frater of the Year for the Nation in a convention in Dallas.
"It feels great," said Etim on winning the award. "I consider myself very privileged and honored to win such an award."
With over 600 national NPHC chapters nominating a fraternity brother, Etim realized that there were numerous people up for the award.
"I am very thankful for all the people that supported and continue to support me in all that I do," said Etim. "Thank you Mu Gamma. This one is for us."
There are several duties Etim must perform, while being Frater of the Year.
"I will inform the rest of my brothers about it so we can all celebrate. The mantle shall forever be held as long as we take pride in what is important," said Etim. "I just think this is exciting."
Currently, Etim is the president of The Mu Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., as well as the chartering president of Georgia College & State University's NAACP Chapter.
"My major is middle-grades education. I am a member of the BSA (Black Student Alliance), while also serving as a participant in the G.E.M. and S.O.A.R programs," said Etim. "I think it is good to take advantage of the opportunities college has to offer."
