WOW what a great group of strong greek sororities you had to choose from . . . I really don't know how you could go wrong.
Umm Lemme See
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Chi Omega
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Kappa
XO is such a strong national sorority . . . I am so glad you are giving it a chance. AND KNOW that what ever the sorority (chapter) is right now, you and your pledge class can make it what you want it to be.
I know I am looking at it from a 35 year olds eyes but, really you might not see it now but, you will be 35 some day and could be so proud to move to where ever you end up and see another XO . . . far be it for me to be panhellenic but XO is such a great national panhellenic sorority and when you look at the big picture you are very lucky/blessed to have XO be on your "jersey."
GET TO KNOW YOUR "pledge" sisters and see if they are the group you might like to "grow up with."
KEEP US UPDATED and thanks for the recruitment thread.

Alright soo I just got back from all of my bid day celebrations. My pledge class right now is 7 girls and i really like all of them. There will also probably be more after COB. I actually was kind of amused because 4 of the 7 people in my pledge class had Alpha Chi as there first choice and I also heard many girls that ended up in various sororities saying they felt led on by alpha chi. Alpha Chi's pledge class seems fairly big to me and there are a few girls i love in it, but also a few girls that I'm really suprised about ( aka the girl who openly admitted she was purposfully a bitch to every other chapter and the girl who swallowed and then semi chocked on her on gum) so all in all maybe it really wouldnt have been the right place for me. I think I was partially set on my cousin's friend and what the chapter was like when she was there, and I'm not sure that thats what it is anymore. I also think that maybe, i dont remember who wrote this, but that I didn't give the other chapters enough of a chance because I had my mind set on alpha chi. I had a really good time tonight and I looooove our bid day shirts lol. I was so happy to see how happy everyone was to see us and I can't wait to keep going back to the house and move in in January. I also realized that if I wasn't high enough on Alpha Chi's list with my cousins recommendation then I probably would have been even lower without it and so I guess I just wasn't what they were looking for, but I was what ChiO was looking for. I'm also suprised that the recruitment conselor told me that if I SIP'd that i couldnt do anything for a year if that was not true but in the end It seems i found the place for me anyways, and I like that it's all my own, not my cousins since I seem to follow in her footsteps alot. Sorry this is so long I guess I had more to write than I thought lol. But thank you for all your support and I am going to try very hard to remain active on this board.

That is really cool that so many of your new sisters preffed the same chapters-- shows you are a cohesive group! Remember that it is an honor to pref at a house-- it does mean they have a strong interest in you and you can always take that with you-- it isn't an outright rejection. I know it would be nice to get the number one pick, but as you said you are seeing where things may have fallen in place for the best for you!
I'm glad you're liking Chi Omega and getting excited about it. It sounds like the chapter is very happy to have you as a new member! And being where you are wanted is a very nice place to be, indeed!

If this isn't a good example of why you should accept the bid you've gotten and give the chapter a try, I don't know what is.
Congrats KitKat - I hope you'll be a very happy little owl!

I am so happy that you gave Chi-O a chance and that you had a great time at your bid day celebration.
I hope you have a wonderful and amazing pledge period!

This is a good example of WHY girls should accept their bid if they receive one. Every girl I know who went ahead and accepted a bid to their second choice is so happy now!

KitKat...you must have a lot of emotions swirling around inside you right now with the bid situation. I do echo to you what other members have been sharing on the boards and also encourage you to try it. Your pledge class sounds like a very great group that already shares some of the same "vibe" considering where you went to prefs.
My cousin is a Chi Omega. She was very bummed they didn't have Chi O at my school, but since she was older she always got to do things like joining a sorority first, etc. I am actually glad we had different affiliations because like you said, you have followed in her steps. And, now you can have a more Panhellenically diverse family !!
Chapters and the tone of the membership change after time. Think about this...if in the present day your cousin was a PNM maybe she wouldn't have picked her respective group because the same composite isn't there...not saying that there is any "right" or "wrong" group.
Now is the time for you to be able to make your own road!! Enjoy pledging and getting to know your pledge sisters and your new Chi O sisters! If you and your cousin remain close after you graduate and are able to be active in an alumnae Panhellenic together down the road that would be a great sorority experience for both of you!
But for this time, enjoy YOUR time and make your college and sorority experience YOURS!
Congrats to you and CHI O!!

OK, I am having trouble with the concept of NOT having Chi Omega at your school. I thought it was some kind of rule that all Greek systems have Chi Omega.
