The mason Dixon Line had nothig to do with slavery at the time is was done by the two surveyors, Mason and Dixion. It was set up to divide the States in a concentrict lay out for future expansion.

It became in use late during the Civil War. The Media even back then had much to do with giving people the news that they wanted to print.

The Masopn Dixon line ran parallel to the bottom of Penn. and West to the known area at the time. It was a starting point for expansion only.

Now, what about the States that were beyond the Western Boundry of their survey?

Study harder and see what you find.

Did I call myself "top"? I don't think I did...although we are a very strong house down here. I'm sorry all of you are offended by "sorostitute." As I said before.....none of us or anyone I have met, guys and girls, take offense to it. It has always been understood that it was just a joke, not to be taken seriously.

Obviously you all take it extremely seriously, and thats fine. I don't think there is any reason to call us "lame", "idiots", "low", etc. etc. over it.

I don't care too much because I have no desire to travel south of the Mason Dixon Line unless I need some cheap fireworks. I don't care if I offended anyone by that either.

Well you guys who are offended by it shouldnt worry about it. It doesn't bother many people down here, so you guys do your thing and we'll do ours. That being said, it doesn't shock me that many on here think its so offensive, considering how seriously people on here take greek life. Don't get me wrong, greek life is great, but its not the end all, at least for most people I know. Then again, southern greeks tend to join a fraternity or sorority because of how they are, not because they desire to become something else. I didn't join a fraternity because I needed a life altering experience. I joined because people like me tend to do that, its part of growing up. Its a good way to make lifelong friends, strong connections, and to have a great time in some of the best collegiate environments in the country. Thus, a term like sorostitute is not gonna shake most people to the core down here.

Tom, I have to disagree. It was originally put in place to end a boundary dispute between the British colonies of Maryland and Pennsylvania/Delaware. Basically, the three original land charters overlapped because the maps were wrong and the legal discriptions were confusing. The states were in place when the lines were drawn and surveyed....the only exception being that western Virginia was just a part of Virgina.....and wasn't referred to as West Virginia.

I'm not offended by that at all. I have no desire to go to Wisconsin or Minn. unless I want to freeze to death or listen to horrible accents.

What are you 5?

They don't sell fireworks in the North? I'm confused. Why would that be insulting? If that was meant to be a knock on the South.....that is about the most pathetic attempt I have seen.

I really don't have any desire to go somewhere like Minnesota or Wisconsin. Something about freezing cold weather, God-awful accents/and pale women is somehting I have no desire to be around.......I did though visit my uncle once in Rochester, MN while he was at the Mayo Clinic for his Orthopedic Surgery Residencey. Pretty sure he said it was the worst couple years of his life.

Yes Macallan, I am 5 years old.

Anyway, that was actually a compliment about the south. In Wisconsin, fireworks are available but they are more expensive. In Minnesota they are illegal except sparklers, snakes crap that isn't worth lighting up. The south has warehouses everywhere, selling grosses of bottle rockets for about $1 each, M-60's tanks, etc. Well worth a roadie.

No Fair. This got added on after I posted.
Don't even get started on the accents. No nationally syndicated news broadcast anchors have thick Southern accents. I won't knock them too bad, but it's a fact. Rochester is kind of boring though. Lots of doctors however.

No national anchors have any accent. Surely not Wisconsin or Minnesota. People can talk bad about southern accents if they want, but girls in other parts of the country don't really seem to mind...I think girls from the south would testify that guys from other regions seem to like theirs as well.

I prefer British accents personally. No matter how mad they are, they never sound all that angry. It's rather disarming.

Reminds me of a wildlife rehabilitation center we visited. We were in the predatory birds area and the vet techs were trying to catch one of the owls for examination. Despite being highly distressed, all it could do was hoot loudly. The other owls started hooting as well but it all sounded rather calm until the eagles in the other cage started with their screeching. After that, it was total clamor as the other animals in different parts of the property heard the eagles and joined in.

Besides the idea that the "sorostitute" play on words is lame, idiotic, low, etc. etc.?

The only people I've heard use the term "sororstitute" are GDIs. I don't know why any woman would want to associate herself with prostitutes, but hey, people do all kinds of stuff that don't make sense.

I've never heard the term "fratdaddy" at all. The only thing that comes to mind when I hear that is Fry Daddy, which I wouldn't want to be associated with either if I were a guy. What the hell is fratdaddy supposed to mean, anyway? It doesn't have any of the same negative connotation to it that "sororstitute" does.
