I attended a PWI, and I see your point. Gamma Sigma Sigma exists at several campuses (sp?) in Georgia including UGA, Clark Atlanta University, and Spelman College. I know I've seen pictures of CAU Gamma Sigs throwing up their handsign, but I don't know any Gamma Sigs from UGA - black, white, etc - who ran around campus throwing handsigns, doing calls, or wearing jackets.

At the same time, KKPsi should adopt their own thing. (IMO, most of the all/mostly black chapters of orgs non-NPHC orgs should not try to fit in with NPHC behavior by doing what we do when you are not who we are. But we've already been there in that Howard Pike thread.) I know your handsign is similar to Phi Beta Sigma's. I don't see the difference, but if KKPsi and PBS see the difference, that's fine. What's not cool is your bruh because he's throwing up KKPsi sign as if he's throwing up somebody else's hook. I don't see Kappas or Alphas throwing up their signs in anything like a hook.

Anything and everything that WE do now has been going on loooooooooooong before many of you crossed into your respective orgs. WE have adopted our OWN thing. We step (many pre-dominantly white chapters step as well), we party hop(as do our PWI chapters), we have a handsign (PWI chapters throw it too), we have a call (yes, it's official), and if you don't like it, oh well. We don't give a damn. Deal with it. KKPsi and TBSigma are going to keep doing what we do. The bruh throwing up the Psi like a hook should actually have both hands up with his body forming a Psi. It's not new, it's rather ancient (old school). Many bruhs nowadays don't do it like that (including myself) because it looks too familiar to Omega hooks. Out of respect for my bruhs who are Omega's, I don't do it. As for the KKPsi vs PBS handsign, the only difference is we have the thumb out and they have it in. Simple. We work hard and handle our own. How about you let us do us and y'all do what y'all do? Y'all shouldn't let your insecurities get to you.

What do you consider "old school"?

No matter how old your "traditions" are in your org, it will always seem to others that your org simply saw things that other folks were doing and said "that looks cool, lets do it too!". I've attended 2 PWI's and visited many others, and I've never seen those chapters with handsigns, calls, line names, etc. But mysteriously, chapters at HBCUs want to imitate what they see D9 orgs do. I don't know if its a case of "I didn't make line for XYZ so I'll take the next best thing" or you simply want to fit in with everyone else.

No need to scream, but its a true statement...

Its amazing how far folks will go to fit in. EVERYBODY wants to have a step show and line jackets and calls and handsigns like the D9, but not everyone wants to do the work that being in a D9 org requires.
