James, you basically took everything I wanted to say and distilled it down to a clean, concise post. So, I thank you for doing my work for me

I dunno. My big and I joke that all the crazy girls hide out all year and wait for sorority recruitment and then "come out of the crazy closet".

Oh, I don't think it's that bad. The crazies are just so obvious, but when I was in school there was really only one crazy woman (out of 300-400 rushing) per year, which aren't bad odds.
Even here, the # of real nutbags compared to posters/lurkers isn't that extraordinary. Crazy people are just more noticeable.

They assert their presence and craziness more. If a sane person has a hobby, she's not going to post it 20 times in every thread. If a crazy person has a hobby like, oh, this is just off the top of my head here, cosplay, everyone on GC will hear about it. A lot.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.
