I've been in some shows.....it's not that I was the perfect stepper. More like I was one of those really good ensemble players, lol.
But in all the shows I've seen, the WORST was fraternity XYZ at the Fall Show at Georgetown in 1999. OMG they were so horrible. Every person on stage was out of shape, overweight...... the style was more like aerobics than actual stepping.... and had the NERVE to be disrespectful to women.
(And prior to the show tried to DEMAND that they step last!)
They. Got. Booed.
And trust, it takes a lot for a stiff Georgetown audience to do anything but politely clap.
We never invited them back.

I've never been to a step show (tho I'd love to!). The local on our campus has become very multi-cultural, and last year for Greek Week Mock Rock they added some stepping at the end of their performance. Maybe 2 girls were decent... but their performance proved that some white girls just shouldn't step.

Once a month, my sorority used to mentor local middle school girls from the area. The other sorority that did this with us was Sigma Gamma Rho. We always did crafts and such with them, while the SGRho girls taught them how to step. The girls were not at all impressed with us after SGRho. They wanted us to teach them how to step and we told them we didn't know how so instead, they tried to teach us. That didn't work out so well. Then they tried to teach us how to double dutch. Again, did not work.

The loooong wait in between groups. Oh wait, that's EVERY step show I've ever been to.

I have to agree...sometimes the wait is just simply pointless. Be ready to go on following each group...
At my school...after the certain sorority/fraternity step, all the members come on the floor and sing their song...that took a lot of time, and meant nothing to us non-greeks...But overall, the shows were a pleasure to watch. Most groups had their stuff together.

I feared that I was going to mess up, so I didn't want my friends to come, but they knew if they didn't show up I was going to kick their ass!!! Anyway I was so afraid and I did mess up! But, I didn't care when I was stepping, I was just glad to be comming out!!!!!!!!! But I think I was smooth with it!
