We got a really good deal on a carnival cruise. 4 nights, $349 apiece. Couldn't believe it. We had to fly to Tampa.
Two pieces of advice for any cruise:
1] Smuggle one bottle of booze per suitcase.
2] Put them in, and then use luggage locks.
I'm assuming you would do this to not have to pay for drinks on the ship? Why would you not choose an all inclusive package? That sucks. Sneaking booze on a trip is something we did when we were 16 and 17.
Have not heard of an all-inclusive cruise, although I'd be interested.
Drinks were like $5 for regular ones, like $8 for the special drink of the day.
The catch with a cruise is you tend to drink a lot over the course of a cruise and it adds up quickly. We did a 4-day cruise and had about $300 in bar tab on our closing bill. We were NOT inebriated all the time either, they were pouring pretty weak and it just adds up very quickly. Hot sun = drink more.
It's $20 for a bottle of Bacardi or $120 for an equal amount of drinks. Pure economics. You're in a closed market when you're on board a ship. You have to pay what they ask or you don't get t.
See... I was told that NYC was expensive unless you knew someone that lived there to stay with. So I don't know what kind of budget you have. Of course, I'm sure there is a lot of stuff to see just by looking around.
I did a four day trip to San Diego this year. And I'm broke as a joke. But I spent time in Old Town San Diego, went to a Day Spa in Corona and did the whole nightlife thing. It didn't put me in the hole that much. Gas is just really expensive over here though.
