Mini-vacation ideas?
.
|
The ex-boyfriend and I went to the Dominican Republic for 4 days, 5 nights for spring break because he couldn't get any more time off work. We got a really good deal so it ended up being pretty cheap. You could also look into doing a 4 or 5 day cruise. Other than that, I think that NYC is awesome! ;)

Big cities like nyc and chicago are probably really nasty right now with the heat and the east coast is getting beaten down with rain. Plus whenever you go to places like that, you never feel like you're on vacation since you're always moving around. You know I think Cali is awesome and you could maybe do a driving trip where you start up north and go to places like sausalito and hang out with the gay people in san fran and then drive along the coast and make stops in sb, sd, or la. I think anything more than 2 days is too much for vegas and it's not a couple's place IMO. You could probably go to travelzoo.com and see if anything cool is on sale too, but I still think the Keys are probably the best idea. -Rudey |
With Boston, you can spend time in the city doing touristy stuff for a day or two and then go down to the Cape and lie on the beach for a day or two.
But Rudey is correct in that we've been getting massive amounts of rain recently. I keep hoping it will end soon. |
Come to St. Louis and hang out with Chingy, Nelly, and Ebony Eyez. But, don't leave without taking a swim in the Mississippi River.

What about a relaxing weekend on the beach? That will be low-cost and there won't be the stress of racing around to see the sights.
You could do a 3-4 day cruise to MX or the Bahamas-- no passport needed. |
Cali homie.
Cali And then visit me! But do it soon because I'm moving to Baltimore, Maryland in 2 months :(. I'm so scurred of the move. I don't want to be an O's fan |
I could hook you up with my in-laws..they live 15 min from the beach in Veracruz, MX. Dude, you could go stay in our house down there that the DH bought before we got married. (Then you could tell me what it's like, because I've never seen it;) )

The part of Arkansas I live in has a lot of tourists, and it's really cheap. Within 2 hours of me there is:
Eureka Springs Branson 3 lakes with excellent fishing/swimming/boating 2 rivers with fishing and floating over 50 hiking trails Yeah, I know it's in Arkansas...but it is cheap, easy to get around, and very pretty. Memphis is fun too...I've been there lots, and there is a lot of stuff to do. |
I like going on road trips. Even if all we check out in the new city are the malls.
How about Tampa? There are various museums, an aquarium, and a zoo here. And don't forget Busch Gardens. Another good one is Williamsburg, VA. It has not only the historical part of the city, but a couple of national parks and another theme park as well. |
Yeah Bubblz, why don't you go visit Tampa? What a cool place - NOT!
Sorry scandia, it's just that bubblz and I are from Tampa. We're pretty much all Tampa'd out. :p Seriously, if you want to do the whole beach thing, go to the Keys. If you want to go somewhere new, go to SoCal and have Rudey take you on a tour. eta: Scandia, where do you live in Tampa? |
Near the university. Near the northernmost exit of I-75 of the county. Don't know if my exact location is quite considered New Tampa.
I agree that Tampa is not the most touristy place in the nation. But it still beats Jacksonville. Now that was all business, all military, and no tourism at all. |

So Bubblz, have you made up your mind on where to go yet? You could always go on a cruise. One of my sorority sisters went on a cruise and got married in the Keys, then 2 weeks later, they went on a cruise for their honeymoon. |
Somewhere like Savannah or Charleston would be nice for a quick get away too. Beaches, historical sight seeing, etc.
Oops, just read in another thread you're in Charleston. Never mind :) |
My partner and I went on a NYC vacation a couple of years back and I just did a search on the internet for package deals. If you look around, there are several companies that offer complete packages that are not too expensive.
I think our package included 2 nghts at a 4 star hotel, on the upper east side, tix to the Empire State Building, theatre tickets (we saw Aida), bus tour, MOMA and dinner at some fancy restaurant. The hotel room wasn't super huge, but we didn't spend a whole lot of time indoors, so it was ok. I think for the whoel package it was about 600, but that was a few years ago. I'm fairly certain that you can find similar deals online for a longer period and they may include more sights. |
