This is true - he actually visited some Kappa Sig houses when he was running for President, and he has given quite a bit of money and support to the fraternity.

Kind of a funny story; he was on TV being interviewed by Sam Donaldson (also a Kappa Sig) at some point during his run, and at the end of the telecast Donaldson said something to the effect of "We hope you'll come back and see us again." Dole's response: "Of course I will, us Kappa Sigs have to stick together."

As to the comment about J-school, it can be tough going financially (at least at first), but let's not paint all reporters with the same brush. Take a walk through the J-schools at Northwestern, Syracuse, BU, Missouri, or the graduate program at Columbia.
