People should also understand that dogs running loose also pose a threat to other animals. My poor cat was killed in our front yard a few years ago when a couple of dogs from a nearby subdivision got loose from their yard.

As I said, my brother lives on a small farm (35 acres), and there's only 2 neighbors within a mile. The one neighbor's dogs ATE one of their cats; the other one got away, but not after they took off half her tail, and my brother found claw marks all the way down the deck...
