That is awful. I know I will never forget the day that my neighbor was backing out of her garage and ran over their family dog while I was standing on the street at the end of the driveway. I don't think her young son ever truly got over that trauma.
People should also understand that dogs running loose also pose a threat to other animals. My poor cat was killed in our front yard a few years ago when a couple of dogs from a nearby subdivision got loose from their yard.
