I've used a headhunter twice. Definitely the way to go, especially if you are relocating out of state. The only caution that I would give is that you need to remember who pays him. He wants you to take the job so he can get paid! He may not be completely forthcoming about issues at your potential new place of employment. Just because he is doing the negotiation doesn't mean you shouldn't do you own research and know what you want. I learned the hard way NOT to trust headhunters with my salary package negotiation or to start the moving process without a signed agreement that reflects what you were told at the interview or when you were offered the position.
