As posted in another thread....

Lambda Chi Alpha has created a website for all inter/national fraternities and sororities who have chapters it the affected areas.

http://www.fraternalrelief.org

As of 2:30 CDT on 9/1/05 the following groups are participating and have individual links to the status of chapters/members in Katrina's wake:

Delta Chi

Delta Upsilon

It looks like Alpha Gamma Delta is now participating.

We've finally released an official statement.
http://www.sigmasigmasigma.org

They've added a page for affected collegians and alumnae to post statements, just to let everyone know how they're doing.

Houses up and down the row have taken in at least one or two families from the New Orleans area.

They thought they would only stay a night or two, but ended up staying way longer than that.

The families up and down the row are starting to get their lives together. They are currently looking for places to live. Baton Rouge has nearly doubled in size with all the evacuees now living here. Families are also moving to Texas as well as several other places.

Another problem is schooling... BR does not have the best public schools, plus all the schools are pretty much full. NO has several Catholic high schools, while BR has 4 that are also full.

Traffic and Gas have also become a problem down here. Either the lines are 1/2 a mile long just to get gas, or the gas station is out. I'm thinkin about getting a bike!

I'm sure yall have all heard all the rest of the stuff on all the channels. It is still so surreal to all of us here, even the people from New Orleans. We have helicopters flying over us non stop and ambulances speeding down the street... Its chaos!

Please keep all the victims of Katrina in your thoughts and prayers.
