I was reading my local newspaper which had all the Michigan college's rate increase and I was like I hope that does not make students less inclined to join a fraternity or sorority.

I think anyone who joins a Greek organization (for the right reasons) will truly gain a lot. I have truly enjoyed my experiences and it makes going back for events even more special and great.
Not only did they have huge increases in tuition in Michigan (averages of 13% .. some up to 18%), but the economy is in the pisser with an unemployment rate of 7% +. We're very concerned that it will affect numbers.
